20 years ago they began making their currency with Pachacutec on it along with the stone structures he built. He is looked upon as an inspiring hero to the indigenous population for the past 500 years. Notice the coin spells his name "Pachacutec". I wish they would stick with one spelling on his name.

Knowing how central banks print fiat currency around the world out of thin air I would almost bet my left arm that it is NOT backed by gold.
